James Ciletti is the author of “The Missing Lifeguard: A Young Man’s Reckless Journey from Youthful Innocence to Bold Maturity.” After being a Lifeguard, Jim moved to Hawaii in 1974, where he married and raised a family. He owned and operated successful scuba diving shops and a real estate business, retiring at age 58. He now splits his time between his North Shore Kauai home, where he still paddles, swims, and surfs, and in the winter months at his Sun River, Oregon home, for snow skiing on Mt. Bachelor. Jim tells his kids, “With good physical and financial health, everything else you want will follow.”
