Inflamed by the boys’ account of the fire, Eddie’s father enlists four brothers to help him run down the black man and lynch him. Aided by his friends, Jesse takes refuge in a nearby swamp until the truth is found out. The brothers follow Jessie into the swamp. Hidden and unhidden danger awaits everyone who wanders into the swamp. The chase rushes to a deadly conclusion as Jesse tries to elude Carter and the unsavory characters he’s hired to catch him.

Chapter and Verse

Freeze Time Media recently released “Chapter and Verse,” a gritty murder mystery by newcomer Frank Hamilton. The book is available through Amazon in print and as a Kindle book.

Chapter and Verse

It appears the Gospel Killer has returned from his sabbatical. A year and a half after the last victim was found, the dead bodies and pattern have begun anew. Every twenty-seven days a man is murdered. Each victim shares a Biblical name from the Gospels of the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. Additionally, each of the dead men is found nude, each has recently ejaculated, and the killer has used a serrated edged knife each time.

The Gospel Killer leaves his calling card, a King James version of the Bible, near each dead body. With Dallas police and the FBI both unable to stop the deaths, a wealthy and seductive widow of one of the Gospel Killer’s most recent victims hires private investigator Mark Witt to join in the search for the elusive serial killer.

Witt, an ex-cop and former seminary student, knows all too well of the ugliness that can occur in life. He knows the secrets that death can hold and he understands how killers cling to the shadows. What Mark doesn’t understand, though, is that the Gospel Killer knows of secrets too. When the Gospel Killer learns about a past mistake long held secret by Mark, it threatens the investigator’s entire life. In order to protect his family, and to keep his own secret locked in the shadows, Mark must now provide assistance to the Gospel Killer.

This is an untenable situation and one that both sides know will almost surely end in death…but whose?

From the Ground Up

Freeze Time Media recently celebrated the release of “From the Ground Up: From the Tractor to the Sabre,” the autobiography of Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame laureate Talmage E. Miller. Di Freeze co-wrote the book.

From_the_Ground_Up_Cover_for_Kindle

Driving an old tractor around the fields on the farm wasn’t too exciting for Talmage E. “Tom/Tal” Miller until one of the National Guard biplanes had a forced landing nearby. He ran to get a closer look at this big bird — too late. They got it fixed and blew dirt in his face when they took off. That instilled a bug in him to learn to fly, which he did one night at Denver Municipal Airport in 1936.
His training was delayed when his father was transferred to Lincoln, Nebraska. WWII came about and he learned to fly in the Enlisted Reserve under the CPT program, where he soloed in 1942. He graduated from the Central Instructors School at Randolph Field and was assigned to Tex Rankin’s Primary Flight Training School. The war was winding down and less demand for pilots closed the flight schools. Tex Rankin helped him get into cadet pilot training at Santa Ana, California. He got his wings in Douglas, Arizona, and was assigned to “bombing through overcast” school flying North American B-25s.
When the war ended, he returned to the farm, but eventually landed an instructor job at Sky Ranch Airport before being hired by Combs Aircraft, a Beechcraft dealer, to sell airplanes. He flew everything from the Bonanza to the King Air 200 turboprop and won many awards for aircraft sales. He later founded his own airplane sales company with Bill Haines, chief pilot for the Dillon Company. They sold many kinds of airplanes, from DC-3s to North American Sabreliner models 40 and 60 in many parts of the world.
He collected many friends and stories along the way. His book describes encounters with Olive Ann Beechcraft, Roscoe Turner, Paul Mantz, Frank Tallman, Elrey Jeppesen and many other well-known names in the aviation industry.
